A Smooth Start

We were blessed today by everyone being early to DFW, an on-time flight, and easy passage through Canadian Border Control. Our bus charter did stop at the wrong Salvation Army location to begin, but that was the only hitch and a small one!

Our work with the Family Resource Center at the Calgary Salvation Army lasted from 3:30-8:30 pm and included setting up for their “Messy Church” event, dinner, serving at Messy Church and visiting with the families.

Messy Church is a ministry for families with children who are not regular church attendees and is designed to introduce them to the claims of Christ. The three-fold mission of the Salvation Army is to show the love of Christ, meet human needs, and see lives transformed through the Gospel.

Our students took the lead tonight in working the craft tables for the children and visiting with the families throughout the event. They were great! We closed by singing “Alberta Bound” – a song about the beauty of Alberta and love the people have for their province

We arrived in Cochrane at 9:30, and everyone is tired after a long day. We are hitting it early in the morning to visit Banff National Park – one of the most beautiful places on earth!
