Sunday was a great beginning to our week of concerts and ministry. We were privileged to participate by singing three songs in the 10 am Worship Service of the Calvary Hills Community Church. This energetic and passionate African-American church welcomed us with joy and celebration. We were inspired by their dynamic worship music and the powerful preaching of their Pastor, James Bryant. He challenged us from the story of Peter walking on the water, to step out of our comfort zones, attempt great things for God, and stay focused on Jesus. It was a fantastic way to begin our week and set the pace!
Following lunch and a brief stop at the edge of the Pacific Ocean – Land’s End – we spent the afternoon at Golden Gate Park before our 6 pm Concert there at the Bandshell. It was well-attended and the audience showed great appreciation for us. It is always exciting and interesting to proclaim Jesus and the Gospel in a public arena – outside the comfort of our churches. We sensed the Lord’s presence and blessing on our music both in the morning service, and the evening concert. Thank you, Lord!
This morning, Monday, all of our mission groups are spread across the city working in the following projects:
*Canvassing church neighborhoods
*Serving at a Food Bank in Oakland
*Singing at a Homeless Shelter
*Painting a church
*Cleaning and organizing a church facility
*Power-washing a church building
*Prayer-walking the city
Please pray for stamina and effectiveness as we begin these week-long projects today. We hope to accomplish a lot for these churches by the end of the day on Thursday!
