We began the day by worshiping with one of our partner churches – Freedom Church, Windsor Mill. We were blessed to share three songs with them and hear a terrific sermon from their pastor Jay Jones. The service concluded with The Lord’s Supper. We then enjoyed lunch together with their congregation.
This congregation is only nine months old, but is blessed to have inherited a beautiful campus from a Southern Baptist congregation that was about to have to close their doors – but this new SBC church plant is on the way to a great future!
After lunch, we had just a few minutes to pass out flyers in neighborhoods where we will be hosting Vacation Bible School in the park and a Sports Camp for kids.
We then journeyed an hour into Washington, DC to enjoy the monuments and significant buildings there. The senior class enjoyed the traditional special “Senior Dinner,” while the rest of the group paid a brief visit to the Air and Space Museum (part of the Smithsonian).
The main event was the “Monuments by Moonlight” tour where we were carried by bus for about three hours to the various significant monuments. At the Lincoln Memorial, Pastor Brent talked to us about the leadership lessons from Washington, Jefferson and Lincoln, all of whose monuments we could see from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. The choir sang the National Anthem again, and the crowd at the memorial was excited to hear us sing.
It was a late night – after midnight before we were all in for the night – and we had a 7 AM start to our mission assignments Monday morning. So pray for our stamina!
We are working missions both morning and evening Monday-Thursday, so be in prayer for our teams as we reach out to the community with the love of Jesus and the message of the Gospel.

What an exciting evening! Something no one should forget! Thanks for reminding our next generation of the sacrifice that has been made for us thru the generstions!
